Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman’s availability for IPL 2025 has come under scrutiny after he shared a cryptic post on social media, just hours after Delhi Capitals (DC) confirmed his signing for ₹6 crore. Rahman, who replaced Jake Fraser-McGurk, was expected to join DC ahead of the season restart on May 17, but his latest update suggests otherwise.

Mustafizur’s Cryptic Post & Bangladesh’s T20I Commitments

Rahman took to X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Heading to UAE to play against them. Keep me in your prayers.” His post raised concerns as Bangladesh is scheduled to play two T20Is against UAE on May 17 and 19, followed by a white-ball tour of Pakistan starting May 25.

BCB’s Stand on Mustafizur’s IPL Participation

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has clarified that it has not issued a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for Rahman’s IPL participation. BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury stated, “Mustafizur is supposed to go with the team to the UAE according to the schedule. We have not received any communication from IPL officials.”

Impact on Delhi Capitals & Playoff Race

DC, currently fifth in the IPL points table with 13 points, faces a tight playoff race. Rahman’s absence could be a major setback, especially with Mitchell Starc’s participation also in doubt.

What’s Next?

Rahman has reportedly applied for an NOC, and DC has reached out to BCB, requesting his availability for matches on May 18, 21, and 24. However, his immediate destination appears to be UAE, not IPL, leaving DC’s playoff hopes hanging in uncertainty.
