The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the postponement of all remaining CA Final, Intermediate, and Post Qualification Course (PQC) examinations, originally scheduled between May 9 and May 14, 2025. The decision comes in response to heightened security concerns following recent India-Pakistan hostilities under Operation Sindoor.
Official Announcement & Affected Exams
ICAI issued an official notification on May 8, 2025, citing the prevailing tense security situation as the reason for the postponement. The affected exams include:
- CA Final Group II (originally scheduled for May 8, 10, and 13).
- CA Intermediate Group II (May 9, 11, and 14).
- International Taxation – Assessment Test (INTT AT).
The CA Foundation exams, set to begin on May 15, will proceed as planned.
Security Concerns & Background
The postponement follows escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, triggered by Pakistan’s drone and missile attacks on Indian military installations after India’s precision strikes under Operation Sindoor. Several universities, including Kashmir University and Cluster University, have also postponed exams due to security concerns.
ICAI’s Advisory to Students
ICAI has assured students that new exam dates will be announced soon and has advised candidates to monitor the official ICAI website for updates. The institute emphasized that the safety and well-being of candidates and staff remain a top priority.
Impact on Aspirants
The sudden postponement has left thousands of CA aspirants in uncertainty, particularly those who had traveled to exam centers. ICAI has urged students to remain calm and continue their preparation, assuring that rescheduled dates will be communicated in a timely manner.
