On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer shared an emotional tribute to his mother, calling her his biggest source of strength and inspiration.
In a video posted by PBKS on social media, Iyer expressed his deep gratitude, stating, “The woman who inspired me is my mom. She’s been the pillar of my life. She has supported me through thick and thin, and she is like a talisman for me, especially during my toughest moments.”
Iyer’s Journey in Cricket
Iyer’s cricketing career has been marked by resilience and leadership. He began his IPL journey with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2015, quickly rising to prominence. Over the years, he has captained Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, leading KKR to their IPL title victory in 2024. Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction, he was acquired by Punjab Kings for ₹26.75 crore, making him one of the highest-paid players in the tournament.
A Stellar IPL 2025 Season
Under Iyer’s leadership, PBKS has secured 16 points from 12 matches, with seven wins and three losses. Individually, he has been in exceptional form, scoring 405 runs in 12 matches at an average of 50.63 and a strike rate of 180.81. His highest score this season was an unbeaten 97 against Gujarat Titans (GT).
