Sikkim CM Calls for Unity and Compassion on Buddha Purnima

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang extended warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, emphasizing the importance of unity, compassion, and peace in society.

In his message, Tamang highlighted the spiritual and cultural significance of Buddha Purnima, which commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and Nirvana of Lord Gautama Buddha. He urged citizens to embrace Buddha’s teachings of non-violence, kindness, and universal brotherhood, fostering a society built on mutual respect and harmony.

“Let us walk the noble path shown by Lord Buddha and strive to build a society grounded in kindness and mutual respect,” Tamang stated, adding that the occasion should serve as a reminder to foster inner peace and social harmony.

The Chief Minister also acknowledged the devout observance of the festival across India, particularly in Sikkim, where devotees mark the day with prayers, fasting, meditation, and acts of service. He appreciated the sincere efforts of Buddhist communities in preserving and promoting the values of Lord Buddha.

As Sikkim continues to uphold its rich Buddhist heritage, Tamang reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting cultural and religious traditions that strengthen the fabric of society.
