Fresh off scripting Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) historic maiden IPL 2025 title win, head coach Andy Flower has taken a reflective detour to Rishikesh, immersing himself in yoga and spiritual exploration. The former Zimbabwean cricketer marked International Yoga Day by visiting Swami Chidanand Saraswati, the spiritual head of Parmarth Niketan Ashram, where the two discussed the deeper meaning of success, leadership, and inner balance.

🧘 A Coach’s Quest Beyond Trophies

Speaking to ANI, Flower shared that while winning the IPL was a monumental achievement, it also prompted introspection.

“Winning is not quite enough. There has to be something more—something deeper, something more meaningful than just winning,” he said, adding that victory can sometimes feel “a little hollow”.

He emphasized the importance of being in a good mental and emotional space to positively influence others, a philosophy he discussed at length with Swami Chidanand Saraswati.

🌄 Yoga as a Way of Life

Flower has spent the past two weeks in Rishikesh, engaging in daily yoga practices and learning about its spiritual roots. He noted that yoga is “not just a one-hour class, but a way of life for hundreds of millions of people”, and expressed gratitude for the physical and mental clarity it has brought him.

🏆 From IPL Triumph to Inner Peace

Under Flower’s mentorship, RCB broke their 17-year title drought by defeating Punjab Kings in a thrilling final. The coach’s calm demeanor and tactical brilliance were widely credited for the team’s turnaround. Now, his journey from the dugout to the banks of the Ganga reflects a rare blend of competitive excellence and spiritual grounding.
