The election, scheduled for June 22, has turned into a three-way battle, with factions led by Ajit Pawar, Chandrarao Tawre, and Sharad Pawar vying for control.

- Ajit Pawar last contested a sugar mill election in 1984, serving on the board of Chhatrapati Cooperative Sugar Mill.
- The Malegaon Cooperative Sugar Mill is currently led by Pawar’s Nilkantheshwar Panel, which won the 2019 elections against Tawre’s Sahakar Bachav Panel.
- Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP) has entered the fray, fielding the Baliraja Sahakar Bachav Panel, making the contest triangular.
- A total of 90 candidates remain in the race, after 412 withdrawals from an initial 593 nominations.
- The electorate consists of 19,549 sugarcane cultivators (Group A) and 102 cooperative institution members (Group B).
