Andhra Pradesh has recorded its highest-ever net GST collection of ₹3,354 crore in April 2025, marking a significant milestone in the state’s financial performance. This achievement reflects strong tax compliance, enforcement measures, and an expanded tax base, according to officials.

Key Highlights of the GST Collection Surge

  • The Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) settlement for April stood at ₹1,943 crore, the highest since the introduction of the AP Goods and Services Tax (APGST) Act in 2017.
  • The Centre deducted ₹796 crore from the IGST settlement under the “Adjustment of Advances Apportionment” to offset the shortfall in the IGST balance as of March 31, 2025.
  • The commercial taxes department reported a steady increase in tax collections across multiple sectors during the second half of FY 2024–25, with April witnessing the highest revenue growth.

Government’s Response and Future Plans

Chief Commissioner of State Tax A. Babu credited the surge in GST revenue to enhanced compliance in tax return filings, stronger enforcement strategies, and integration of defaulters’ asset and bank account details to recover arrears. He emphasized that the state government remains committed to improving taxpayer services and fostering a business-friendly environment.

The record-breaking GST collection underscores Andhra Pradesh’s economic resilience and efficient tax administration, reversing the downward trend observed in late 2024. Officials believe that sustained policy implementation and compliance measures will continue to drive fiscal growth in the coming months.
