In a significant anti-smuggling operation, the Assam Rifles intercepted a large consignment of foreign-origin cigarettes worth approximately ₹5.1 crore near the Chandrapur area in Agartala, Tripura, on June 16, 2025.
Intelligence-Led Operation Near Indo-Bangladesh Border
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, Assam Rifles personnel launched a targeted operation and successfully recovered 170 cartons of banned foreign cigarettes, suspected to have been smuggled across the Indo-Bangladesh border.
The seized contraband was promptly handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation and legal proceedings.
