In a major push to India’s electronics manufacturing ambitions, the Central Government has approved a ₹417 crore Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) to be developed in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. The project, spearheaded by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), is expected to attract ₹2,500 crore in investments and generate 15,000 jobs, reinforcing India’s vision of becoming a global manufacturing hub.
Strategic Location and Infrastructure
Spread across 200 acres, the cluster will offer world-class plug-and-play infrastructure for startups, MSMEs, and large manufacturers. Facilities will include:
- Standard factory sheds
- Power and water provisioning
- Sewage treatment plants
- Hostels and health centres
- Skill development centres
The site is strategically located along the Yamuna Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and the upcoming Palwal–Khurja Expressway, with proximity to Jewar International Airport and major rail hubs.
Sectoral Focus and Economic Impact
The EMC will support manufacturing in key sectors such as:
- Consumer electronics
- Automotive and industrial electronics
- Medical devices
- Computer hardware
- Communication equipment
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized that the project aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat”, focusing on job creation, innovation, and self-reliance in high-tech manufacturing.
“This cluster will create world-class infrastructure and significantly reduce logistics and operational costs,” Vaishnaw stated.
EMC Scheme’s Growing Footprint
So far, the EMC initiative has attracted 520 companies, resulting in ₹30,000 crore in investments and over 86,000 jobs nationwide. The new cluster in Gautam Buddha Nagar is expected to further accelerate this momentum.
