The Central government has undertaken a comprehensive review of infrastructure projects worth over ₹75,800 crore stalled across Jharkhand and four Northeastern states—Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Nagaland—as part of its push to fast-track execution and boost regional development.
🏗️ High-Level Review Meeting Held
The review was conducted on June 24 under the chairmanship of DPIIT Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia, with participation from senior officials of central ministries, state governments, and project developers. The initiative was anchored by the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
📍 State-Wise Project Highlights
- Jharkhand: 18 issues across 11 major projects worth ₹34,213 crore were reviewed, including the Patratu Thermal Power Station Expansion Project Phase-I, aimed at adding 2,400 MW capacity using supercritical technology.
- Arunachal Pradesh: Three projects worth ₹33,469 crore were assessed, including the 2,880 MW Dibang Hydropower Project and a ₹1,000 crore private sector oil and gas initiative by GeoEnpro Petroleum Ltd.

🛠️ Focus on Bottleneck Resolution
The review aimed to resolve land acquisition delays, environmental clearances, and inter-agency coordination issues that have hampered progress. The Centre emphasized the importance of time-bound issue resolution and enhanced coordination to unlock stalled investments.
“This initiative is expected to improve the investment climate, de-risk private capital, and support infrastructure-led growth across strategically significant regions,” the Commerce Ministry stated.
