National Award-winning actor Dhanush has once again proven his dedication to his craft by revealing that he begged on the streets of Tirupati to authentically portray his character in the newly released social drama ‘Kuberaa’, directed by Sekhar Kammula.

At the film’s pre-release event in Hyderabad, Dhanush shared,

“I agreed to the film immediately, trusting the director’s name and reputation. But in the end, he made me beg on the streets of Tirupati.”

The actor’s candid confession drew laughter and applause from the audience and director alike, highlighting the lengths he went to for realism.

🎬 A Role Rooted in Grit and Transformation

In Kuberaa, Dhanush plays a man who rises from extreme poverty to a position of power. The trailer shows him nearly unrecognizable—sporting a thick beard and tattered clothes—capturing the raw essence of his character.

This marks Dhanush’s 51st Tamil film and his second Telugu venture after Sir. The film also stars Nagarjuna Akkineni, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh in pivotal roles.

🛑 CBFC Cuts and Pan-India Release

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cleared Kuberaa with a UA certificate, but not before trimming 19 scenes, reducing the runtime by over 13 minutes. The film released on June 20 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.

🌟 Early Reviews Praise Dhanush

Despite minor narrative flaws, early reviews have hailed Dhanush’s performance as “career-defining”, with fans and critics praising his emotional depth and commitment to the role.
