Bollywood actor Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, has revealed his lifelong battle with hearing and speech difficulties, caused by severe jaundice at birth.

Jaundice Impacted His Brainstem

In a recent interview, Ibrahim shared that soon after birth, he suffered from extreme jaundice, which affected his brainstem, leading to partial hearing loss and speech impairment.

“I lost quite a bit of my hearing, and that impacted my speech. My speech is something I’ve had to work hard on since childhood, with coaches and therapists. It’s still not perfect, but I’m working really hard on it,” Ibrahim stated.

Medical Experts Explain Jaundice-Induced Hearing Loss

Doctors confirm that high bilirubin levels in newborns can cause neurotoxicity, damaging the auditory pathways and leading to speech difficulties.

Overcoming Challenges Through Therapy

Despite his struggles, Ibrahim has undergone extensive speech therapy and continues to work on improving his communication skills.

Bollywood Journey and Future Aspirations

Ibrahim made his Bollywood debut with Nadaaniyan, co-starring Khushi Kapoor, and is set to appear in Sarzameen and Diler.

His resilience and determination serve as an inspiration, proving that early health challenges can be overcome with perseverance.
