Making a blockbuster film involves intense dedication, long hours, and countless takes. However, it also creates moments of genuine amusement that linger long after the cameras stop rolling. Tamil cinema enthusiasts often wonder what happens behind the scenes of major productions, especially when prominent stars share screen space. Recently, comedian Soori shared a memorable anecdote from the production of the hit movie Jilla, shedding light on the lighter side of working with leading actor Vijay.

Introduction to Jilla and Star Collaboration

Released years ago, Jilla brought together two of the biggest names in the Tamil film industry, Mohanlal and Vijay. Directed by R.T. Neason, the action drama became a major box office success and is still fondly remembered by fans. Alongside the intense face-offs and emotional drama, the movie featured substantial comedic relief. Soori, who played a notable part in bringing humor to the narrative, recently opened up about his experiences sharing frame time with the iconic lead actor.

Why Vijay Kept Breaking Takes

During a candid conversation, Soori recalled how difficult it was for Vijay to film certain sequences without laughing. The comedian explained that the primary reason the star kept breaking takes was his inability to control his laughter during comedic delivery. Instead of maintaining his composure for the camera, the lead actor would often find himself overwhelmed by humor and would literally attempt to walk away from the set to regain his focus.

Soori described how the situation would unfold repeatedly during filming. As soon as the director called action, the comic timing and delivery would trigger amusement, causing the hero to burst into laughter. To avoid ruining the take completely, the actor would turn around and walk a short distance away, trying hard to calm down before returning to face the camera again.

Humor on Set and Professional Camaraderie

Such behind-the-scenes moments highlight the relaxed and enjoyable environment that often exists on film sets, contrary to the high-pressure situations audiences might imagine. Working with top-tier actors can sometimes be intimidating for supporting cast members, but Soori’s account points to a warm and collaborative atmosphere. The shared laughter between the lead star and the comedian helped build a strong rapport, which ultimately translated well onto the silver screen and resonated with audiences.

The Lasting Impact of Jilla

Years after its theatrical run, Jilla remains a favorite among fans of commercial Tamil cinema. The combination of high-stakes action, emotional family sentiments, and lighthearted comedy ensured a well-rounded entertainment experience. Anecdotes shared by actors long after a film’s release offer fans a deeper appreciation for the effort and joy that went into making it. The revelation about Vijay struggling to keep a straight face adds a charming personal touch to the cinematic journey of Jilla, reminding viewers of the human element behind iconic movie stars.
