India is accelerating its efforts to become a global drone superpower, with a sharp focus on indigenous manufacturing, technological collaboration, and defence exports, according to Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. In an exclusive interview, Singh emphasized that India is not only investing in aerial drones but also exploring underwater and emerging unmanned systems to modernize its defence ecosystem.

🚀 Key Highlights from the Defence Secretary’s Statement

  • India is ensuring domestic procurement of military-grade drones, reducing reliance on imports
  • Over 100 Indian firms now export advanced platforms like BrahMos missiles, Pinaka rocket launchers, and offshore patrol vessels to more than 100 countries
  • Defence exports surged to ₹23,622 crore in FY 2023–24, a 30-fold increase over the past decade
