India has made significant progress in addressing populist concerns, according to the 6th edition of the Ipsos Populism Report. The survey, conducted across 31 countries, highlights a decline in dissatisfaction among Indian citizens compared to previous years.

  • Declining Demand for Strong Leadership: In 2025, 59% of Indians agreed that the country needs a strong leader willing to break rules, marking a 14% decline from 2023.
  • Improved Trust in Governance: 60% of respondents believe India needs a leader to reclaim power from the elite, down 11% from 2023.
  • Public Sentiment on National Identity: 73% of Indians feel it is their duty to defend the country when criticized.
