Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have officially signed Mayank Agarwal as an injury replacement for Devdutt Padikkal, who has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025 due to a right hamstring injury.
Padikkal’s Season Cut Short
Padikkal, who played 10 matches for RCB this season, scored 247 runs at a strike rate of 150.61, including two half-centuries. His absence is a significant blow to RCB, who are currently second on the points table, trailing Gujarat Titans on Net Run Rate.
Agarwal’s Return to RCB
Mayank Agarwal, a seasoned IPL campaigner, has played 127 matches, amassing 2,661 runs with one century and 13 fifties. The 34-year-old batter, who started his IPL journey with RCB in 2011, returns to the franchise after 12 years. He was signed for ₹1 crore.
RCB’s Playoff Push
With the playoffs approaching, RCB will rely on Agarwal’s experience to strengthen their batting lineup. The team is set to face Lucknow Super Giants on May 9 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.
RCB fans have welcomed Agarwal’s return, with the franchise posting a heartfelt message on social media: “After 12 long years, where he belongs. Happy #HomeComing, Mayank.”
