Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan’s tweet has gone viral after Karun Nair was named in the India A squad for the upcoming England tour. Nair, who had an exceptional domestic season with Vidarbha, earned his place in the squad following his stellar performances in the Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Pathan took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his excitement over Nair’s selection, referencing the batter’s past struggles. In his tweet, Pathan wrote, “Karun Nair getting selected for India A is clear indication that ‘Dear cricket will him give him another chance to play for team India again.’” The message resonated widely, as Nair had previously tweeted in 2022, “Dear cricket, give me one more chance,” after being left out of the Karnataka state team.

Nair, who famously scored a triple century against England in Test cricket, will now have the opportunity to prove himself in the India A squad, which will play three four-day matches in England. The first two matches will be against England Lions in Canterbury (May 30 – June 2) and Northampton (June 6 – 9), followed by an intra-squad match against the senior India team on June 13.

His selection has sparked discussions about a potential return to the senior Indian team, especially with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retiring from Test cricket. Former India captain Anil Kumble has also backed Nair as a possible No. 4 replacement for Kohli, citing his experience in English conditions and his performances in county cricket.

With the England tour ahead, Nair will look to capitalize on this opportunity and push for a comeback to the national squad.
