Popular educator and YouTuber Khan Sir, known for his Khan GS Research Centre in Patna, has addressed the social media backlash over his wife’s appearance in a ghoonghat (veil) during their wedding reception held on June 2, 2025.

“It Was Her Decision,” Says Khan Sir

In a candid podcast interview with ANI, Khan Sir clarified that the decision to wear the veil was entirely his wife AS Khan’s choice.

“She said it was her childhood dream. Every girl dreams of becoming a bride with a ghoonghat. It gives a bride a unique identity,” he explained.

He added that he had warned her about potential criticism, but she remained firm in her decision.

“I told her people will blame me, but she insisted. I tried to explain, but she was adamant, and eventually I agreed,” he said.

Social Media Divided Over Traditional Look

Photos and videos from the reception went viral, sparking debate online. While many congratulated the couple, others accused Khan Sir of promoting regressive practices. Critics questioned the contrast between his progressive teachings and his wife’s veiled appearance.

Khan Sir Stands by Cultural Roots

Responding to the backlash, Khan Sir said,

“We come from a village. We cannot leave the village behind,” emphasizing that cultural traditions and personal choices should not be misinterpreted as coercion.
