Manipur to Conduct Statewide Survey to Identify Illegal Bangladeshi, Pakistani Nationals

13

The Manipur Police has launched a survey and verification drive across the state to detect the presence of illegal Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationals residing without valid documents. The initiative comes in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, which has heightened concerns over security and unauthorized immigration.

Key Areas Under Surveillance

The verification drive will focus on specific locations in Imphal Valley, including:

  • Lilong
  • Minuthong
  • Kwakta
  • Mayang Imphal
  • Sora
  • Kairang

Authorities have received reports suggesting that individuals from Bangladesh and Pakistan may be residing in these areas without valid visas or Inner Line Permits (ILP).

Police Action & Documentation

Local police stations have been directed to verify the presence of unauthorized foreign nationals and take appropriate legal action if any illegal immigrant is found. Officials have also been instructed to maintain proper records to document the verification process.

Security Concerns & Background

Manipur has long faced challenges related to illegal immigration, particularly from Bangladesh. The latest crackdown follows similar efforts in Gujarat, where over 1,000 illegal immigrants were detained after the Pahalgam terror attack.

The survey is expected to strengthen border security measures and ensure that individuals residing in the state have proper documentation. Authorities have urged residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and stability in the region.
