Pakistan Targets Civilians in Jammu & Kashmir, Says CM Omar Abdullah

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has accused Pakistan of deliberately targeting civilian populations in the Union Territory following India’s missile strikes on terror infrastructure in the neighboring country.

Pakistan’s Retaliatory Strikes

Speaking after a security review meeting, Abdullah stated that Pakistan has gone out of its way to attack civilian areas, escalating tensions along the Line of Control (LoC). The strikes come in response to India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terror-linked sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“After the inhumane and barbaric murder of 26 innocent civilians in Pahalgam, it was expected that India would respond appropriately. The Government of India and Indian defense forces ensured that no military or civilian targets were hit in Pakistan—only terror bases,” Abdullah emphasized.

Security Measures in J&K

The J&K government has ramped up security measures along the LoC and border areas, focusing on safeguarding civilian lives, strengthening infrastructure, and ensuring swift responses to emerging threats.

The review meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir V.K. Bhiduri, and other senior officials, with Jammu-based officers joining via video conferencing.

India’s Strategic Approach

Despite Pakistan’s indiscriminate shelling, Abdullah reaffirmed that India’s strikes were precise and targeted only terror infrastructure.

As tensions rise, the Indian government continues to monitor the situation, ensuring civilian safety and regional stability.
