Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called off his scheduled three-nation Europe tour, which was set to include Croatia, Norway, and the Netherlands, following India’s Operation Sindoor—a military strike targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Diplomatic Priorities Shift Amid Regional Tensions

The visit, originally planned for May 13-17, included Modi’s participation in the India-Nordic Summit in Norway, where he was expected to engage with leaders from Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. However, with heightened tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) and Pakistan’s retaliatory actions, the Indian government has decided to recalibrate its diplomatic focus.

Official Response and Next Steps

While no formal reason has been provided for the cancellation, sources indicate that Modi’s immediate priority is to monitor regional security developments and ensure India’s strategic interests remain safeguarded.

Apart from the Europe tour, Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh have also opted out of attending the Victory Day Parade in Moscow, an annual event commemorating the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

As India navigates the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, Modi’s decision underscores the government’s commitment to national security, with diplomatic engagements likely to be rescheduled once tensions ease.
