Rahul Gandhi’s Pocket Constitution Becomes Rally Symbol, Udhayanidhi Stalin Parts Ways with Strategist

Nothing 12 1

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has made a pocket-sized Constitution a central prop in his political rallies, while Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has reportedly parted ways with his exclusive political strategist, signaling shifts in both national and regional politics.

Rahul Gandhi’s Pocket Constitution Strategy

Rahul Gandhi has been holding up a leather-bound mini copy of the Constitution in his public rallies for over a year, a practice that began during the 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign. The idea was reportedly suggested by Congress media and communications head Amitabh Dubey, as detailed in the book Contesting Democratic Deficit—An Inside Story of the 2024 Elections.

The copy of the Constitution that has become Rahul’s constant companion was originally provided by Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, who had a well-preserved edition in his office. The symbolic gesture is seen as an effort to reinforce Congress’s commitment to constitutional values amid political debates on governance and democracy.

Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Rift with Political Strategist

Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu, Udhayanidhi Stalin, the DMK youth wing leader and Deputy CM, has reportedly dismissed his exclusive political strategist, marking a shift in his campaign approach.

Udhayanidhi had initially brought in political consultant Sunil Kanugolu for a personal image makeover, moving away from the DMK’s in-house strategy firm PEN, led by his brother-in-law Sabareesan. However, tensions arose as Sabareesan and the PEN team allegedly undermined Sunil’s efforts, leading to his removal.

Following Sunil’s exit, Udhayanidhi has reverted to his traditional formal attire—a white shirt and black trousers, moving away from the T-shirt and jeans look that was reportedly part of the image makeover strategy.

Conclusion

While Rahul Gandhi’s pocket Constitution continues to be a symbolic rally prop, Udhayanidhi Stalin’s strategic shift reflects internal power dynamics within the DMK. Both developments highlight the evolving political narratives in India’s national and regional landscapes.
