Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has officially inaugurated the Rohit Sharma Stand at Wankhede Stadium, paying tribute to the legendary Indian cricketer for his remarkable contributions to the sport. The event, held on May 16, 2025, was attended by dignitaries, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, former BCCI President Sharad Pawar, and Rohit’s family members.

During the ceremony, Rohit Sharma’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, was visibly emotional, holding back tears as the stand was unveiled. Rohit himself expressed deep gratitude, acknowledging the sacrifices made by his family throughout his cricketing journey. “So many people, especially my mom and dad, my brother, his wife, and my wife – very special people in my life – have sacrificed so much for me to be standing here today,” he said.

The Rohit Sharma Stand is now part of the Divecha Pavilion, Level 3, at the iconic stadium in Mumbai, where Rohit has played some of the most memorable innings of his career. The cricketer described the honor as surreal, stating that playing at Wankhede in the upcoming IPL match for Mumbai Indians on May 21 would be an unforgettable experience.

The event was a moment of pride for Rohit’s parents, Gurunath and Purnima Sharma, who were present alongside the entire Mumbai Indians squad to celebrate their former skipper’s legacy.
