Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has shared a deeply emotional experience, revealing how she posed for fan photos just hours after learning about her father’s death. In an interview with Galatta Plus, Samantha recalled the moment she received the heartbreaking news while in Mumbai, before immediately flying to Chennai to be with her family.
A Heartbreaking Moment Behind the Smile
Despite being in shock and grief, Samantha found herself surrounded by fans requesting selfies, unaware of the tragedy she had just faced. She explained:
“I never refuse pictures because they are the people who shaped you into what you are today. I remember last month in December, I received a morning call from my mother that my dad has passed away. I had to fly out on the first flight out of Mumbai to Chennai, and I was in shock because I had not talked to my dad in a long time. I recall standing up and taking all these photos and smiling”.
The Weight of Public Expectations
Samantha reflected on the unique pressures of being a celebrity, stating that fans often don’t realize the personal struggles their favorite stars might be enduring.
“The thing is, if you just say ‘no,’ they don’t know what state you are in… it takes a lot of courage to approach somebody and ask them to take a picture with you. So I didn’t want to say no and ruin their day”.
