In a rare moment of bipartisan appreciation, senior Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a “prime asset for India” for his leadership and engagement during the Operation Sindoor global outreach mission. Tharoor’s remarks, published in a column in The Hindu, have sparked widespread attention across political and diplomatic circles.

🌍 Operation Sindoor: A Unified Diplomatic Front

Operation Sindoor was launched in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 civilian lives. As part of the initiative, seven multi-party delegations—comprising over 50 MPs and former diplomats—visited 33 world capitals to present India’s firm stance against terrorism and its evolving security doctrine.

Tharoor, who led the delegation to the Americas, emphasized the importance of unity in foreign policy and praised the Prime Minister’s “energy, dynamism, and willingness to engage” on the global stage.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s energy, dynamism and willingness to engage remains a prime asset for India on the global stage, but deserves greater backing,” Tharoor wrote.

🤝 Informal Yet Impactful Meeting with PM Modi

Following the delegations’ return, PM Modi hosted the members at his residence for an informal interaction, where leaders across party lines shared insights from their visits. Tharoor described the meeting as “lively and pleasant”, noting that the Prime Minister spent over an hour engaging with each group personally.

“We all chatted with him in an informal way. It wasn’t a formal meeting at all,” Tharoor said, adding that the idea of regular MP-led diplomatic visits was well received by the PM.

🗣️ A Moment of Bipartisan Diplomacy

Tharoor’s praise has been echoed by other delegation leaders, including Supriya Sule (NCP-SP) and Sanjay Jha (JD-U), who thanked the Prime Minister for entrusting them with the responsibility of representing India abroad. The outreach has been hailed as a model of bipartisan diplomacy, showcasing India’s united front on global issues like terrorism and regional stability.
