In a rare and extraordinary gesture, the Sierra Leone Parliament observed a moment of silence on Thursday to honor the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives on April 22.

The solemn tribute took place in the presence of an Indian all-party delegation, led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde, who visited Sierra Leone as part of India’s global outreach initiative against terrorism. The delegation also met Sierra Leone’s Deputy Defence Minister Muana Brima Massaquoi, reaffirming India’s zero tolerance policy towards terrorism.

The Pahalgam attack, which targeted tourists and locals, has drawn global condemnation, with several nations expressing solidarity with India. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, while also downgrading diplomatic ties with Islamabad.

The Sierra Leone Parliament’s tribute underscores the growing international support for India’s fight against terrorism and highlights the importance of global unity in ensuring peace and stability.
