Sterlite Technologies Ltd (STL) is making a bold play in the global data centre market, unveiling a new suite of AI-optimized connectivity solutions as it targets a $1 billion opportunity worldwide. The move comes as demand for high-performance, scalable, and sustainable data centre infrastructure surges, driven by the exponential growth of AI workloads.

AI Workloads Fueling Infrastructure Demand

According to STL Managing Director Ankit Agarwal, AI applications require 10–15 times more compute power than traditional workloads, prompting a global wave of data centre expansion. STL’s new portfolio—ranging from advanced fibre and copper cabling to end-to-end connectivity systems—is engineered to meet the needs of hyperscalers, colocation providers, telecom operators, and enterprises.

“We’re seeing a massive global build-out of AI-ready data centres. STL is positioned to be a key enabler of this transformation,” said Agarwal.

India’s Data Centre Capacity Set to Double

India’s current data centre capacity stands at 1.5 GW, with projections to double to 3 GW within five years. STL expects to see revenue growth from this segment as early as the next quarter, with a goal of making enterprise and data centre solutions 25% of its revenue in FY26.

Global Expansion and Strategic Partnerships

STL is also expanding its footprint in Europe, the US, and Southeast Asia, while strengthening domestic distribution through a strategic partnership with Tech Data India, a subsidiary of TD SYNNEX.

Market Outlook and Competitive Edge

With the global data centre market projected to reach $517 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 10.5%, STL’s 30+ years of expertise in optical networking and precision manufacturing give it a competitive edge. Its solutions are compliant with global standards like ANSI/TIA-942 and ISO 11801, and come with a 25-year performance warranty.
