Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has expressed admiration for his son-in-law KL Rahul following the cricketer’s passionate celebration during an IPL 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Rahul, who played a match-winning knock of 93 off 53 balls, marked the victory with an emotional gesture, stamping his bat on the pitch and declaring, “This is my ground.”
Shetty, speaking on Star Sports, revealed that the moment gave him “goosebumps” and that he immediately called Rahul to express his appreciation. “Every cricketer should have a moment like that where they believe, ‘I can do it, and I have done it.’ That was one of the first times I called him and said how much I loved it,” Shetty stated.
Rahul’s celebration resonated deeply with fans, especially given his Bengaluru roots and past association with RCB. His performance helped Delhi Capitals (DC) chase down a target of 164 with more than two overs to spare.
Shetty also highlighted Rahul’s evolving approach to the game, noting that the cricketer has embraced a more expressive style. “In the past, he used to do a lot of net sessions, a lot of functional training. Now, he wants to enjoy the sport more. He believes in himself, and that’s the change I see,” Shetty added.
Rahul’s resurgence in IPL 2025 has been remarkable, with the batter accumulating 371 runs at a strike rate of 146 in nine outings for DC. His celebration has become a defining moment of the season, symbolizing his confidence and connection to his home ground.
