In a major push toward inclusive education, the Tripura Tribal Welfare Department has rolled out smart classes in 33 government-run tribal hostels across the state, aiming to empower students from remote areas with access to quality digital learning tools.
📚 7,000 Students to Benefit in First Phase
The initiative, launched by Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, is part of the two-week-long Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan. It is expected to benefit nearly 7,000 tribal students in its initial phase, with plans to expand to 100 hostels in the coming months.

Each smart classroom is equipped with:
- Live online interactive sessions
- Recorded lectures for flexible learning
- Multilingual printed and downloadable study materials
- Online timed assessments
- Learning Management System (LMS) integration
- Motivational and mental health counselling sessions
🗣️ Minister Engages with Students
Minister Debbarma personally interacted with students at hostels including SD Memorial ST Girls Hostel, BKI ST Boys Hostel (Belonia), Melaghar ST Girls’ Hostel, and KBI ST Boys’ Hostel (Udaipur), encouraging them to embrace the digital tools for academic growth.
