Tripura Opposition Leader Accuses BJP of Politicizing Job Fairs, Questions Transparency in Recruitment

19

Tripura’s Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury has accused the ruling BJP government of using job fairs as a political tool rather than ensuring fair employment opportunities for the state’s youth. The CPI(M) leader alleged that Chief Minister Manik Saha and other BJP ministers were “taking mileage” from recruitment drives instead of maintaining transparency in the hiring process.

Concerns Over Political Influence in Recruitment

Chaudhury’s remarks came after CM Saha distributed 228 appointment letters to newly recruited elementary education teachers. The opposition leader argued that if the recruitment process was truly transparent, government officials—not politicians—should have handled the appointment letter distribution. He claimed that the presence of BJP leaders at such events was an attempt to influence successful candidates.

Allegations of Outsiders Securing Jobs

The CPI(M) leader further alleged that job aspirants from West Bengal’s Nadia district and Assam’s Dubri region had secured government positions in Tripura, raising concerns about the fairness of the recruitment process. He questioned how these candidates were selected if the BJP-led administration was committed to transparency.

Unfulfilled Job Promises

Chaudhury criticized the BJP government for celebrating the appointment of only 228 candidates, while the Education Department reportedly has 20,000 vacancies. He also pointed out that the total number of vacant government posts in Tripura stands at 51,000, according to official assembly records.

BJP’s Response

The Tripura BJP youth wing has dismissed the opposition’s claims as “baseless and politically motivated”, asserting that the government has made significant strides in job creation. BJP MLA Sushanta Deb accused the CPI(M) of misleading young people and distorting facts to target the state government.

As the debate over employment transparency intensifies, Tripura’s youth continue to seek clarity on recruitment policies, while political parties remain locked in a battle over governance and accountability.
