Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced a significant reduction in the state’s unemployment rate, which now stands at 1.7%, well below the national average of 3.2%. The announcement was made during an appointment letter distribution ceremony for 228 Under Graduate Teacher (UGT) and Graduate Teacher (GT) posts under the Education Department at the Nazrul Kalakshetra Auditorium in Agartala.
The Chief Minister attributed this achievement to the transparent recruitment policies implemented by the BJP-led government since coming to power in 2018. He highlighted that the unemployment rate has dropped from 10% in 2018-19 to the current level, reflecting the state’s commitment to creating job opportunities.
Key Achievements
- 17,554 government jobs have been provided since 2018, including 3,554 jobs in 2025 alone.
- Over 2,900 individuals have been employed in security and other services through private agencies.
- More than 1,600 jobs have been created in industrial areas over the past three years through the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation.
CM Saha emphasized the importance of skill development and vocational education, stating that the government is prioritizing these areas to ensure sustainable employment. He also assured that recruitment processes would continue to be merit-based and transparent, avoiding the alleged “party-line” practices of previous regimes.
The Chief Minister’s announcement has been met with optimism, as it underscores the state’s progress in addressing unemployment and fostering economic growth.
