In a major operation, Uttar Pradesh Police detained 90 Bangladeshi nationals in Mathura district as part of an intensified drive to verify identities and detect illegal immigration.
Police Operation and Arrests
The arrests took place in Khajpur village, under the jurisdiction of Naujheel Police Station, where authorities conducted identity verification checks at local brick kilns. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar, the detained individuals include 35 men, 27 women, and 28 children.
SSP Kumar stated, “They arrived in Mathura three to four months ago, having previously lived in a neighboring state. A detailed interrogation is underway, and other agencies have been informed.”
Statewide Crackdown on Illegal Immigration
The operation is part of Uttar Pradesh’s broader initiative to track and deport Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators residing illegally in the state. Officials have observed that many of these individuals live under changed identities across various districts.
The UP government has instructed District Magistrates, SSPs, and Police Commissioners to expedite identification processes and take action against unauthorized structures along the India-Nepal border.
Legal Proceedings and Further Investigation
Authorities are now examining forged documents, including Aadhaar cards, allegedly used by the detained individuals to establish residency in India. The contractors who employed them are also being questioned.
