Actor-turned-politician Vijay has launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Union government, accusing it of attempting to suppress the findings of the Keeladi archaeological excavation, which he claims could reshape India’s historical narrative. In a strongly worded statement, Vijay likened Tamil civilisation to a volcano, warning that it is “dangerous to provoke.”

🏺 Keeladi Excavation Sparks Political Firestorm

The controversy centers around the Keeladi (Keezhadi) excavation site in Tamil Nadu, where findings suggest the existence of an advanced urban Tamil civilisation potentially older than the Indus Valley civilisation. Vijay alleged that the Centre deliberately withheld the original excavation report and transferred lead archaeologist Amarnath Ramakrishnan after he refused to alter the findings.

“Keeladi is not some mythical story used to fool people but a report based on scientific evidence,” Vijay said, adding that the BJP is trying to “cover up Tamil heritage using Hindi and Sanskrit.”

🛕 Accusations Against BJP and DMK

Vijay, founder of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party, accused the BJP of “playing with the emotions of Tamil people” and warned that “even a child would know what happens when you touch a volcano.” He also criticized the DMK, alleging that the ruling party invokes Tamil pride only during political crises.

🧬 Keeladi’s Historical Significance

The Keeladi site has unearthed artifacts dating back to 800 BCE, with carbon dating and cultural evidence pointing to a thriving urban settlement on the banks of the Vaigai River. The findings challenge long-held assumptions about the origins of Indian civilisation and have become a flashpoint in Tamil Nadu’s cultural and political discourse.

Stay tuned for updates on the Keeladi findings and political fallout.
