Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal has made a surprising U-turn, requesting the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to withdraw his No Objection Certificate (NOC) for a move to Goa, just a month after seeking approval for the switch. The young batter had initially planned to relocate to Goa for the 2025-26 domestic season, reportedly after being offered a leadership role with the Goa team.
Jaiswal’s Statement & MCA’s Response
In an email to the MCA, Jaiswal cited personal reasons for his decision to stay in Mumbai, stating that his family’s relocation plans had changed. He clarified that he had not submitted the NOC to the BCCI or the Goa Cricket Association, making it possible for him to continue representing Mumbai.
The MCA is yet to officially respond to Jaiswal’s request, as the association may need to consult the BCCI and Goa Cricket Association before making a final decision.
Background of the Goa Move
Jaiswal’s initial decision to shift to Goa had raised eyebrows, given his long-standing association with Mumbai cricket. The move was reportedly motivated by the opportunity to captain Goa, with the team being promoted from the Plate division to the Elite group ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Upcoming Commitments
Jaiswal, who has been a key performer for India, is expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming five-Test series against England, starting June 20, 2025. His decision to remain with Mumbai ensures continuity in his domestic cricket career.
