Union Home Minister Amit Shah has declared the elimination of 31 Maoists in Kurraguttalu Hill, located on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border, as a historic breakthrough in India’s fight against Naxalism. The operation, executed over 21 days, marks one of the largest counter-insurgency missions in recent years.

Operation Black Forest: A Major Anti-Naxal Offensive

Security forces, including the CRPF, Special Task Force (STF), and District Reserve Guard (DRG), carried out the high-risk operation, dismantling a key Maoist stronghold. The Kurraguttalu Hill was previously a strategic base for Maoist outfits, including PLGA Battalion 1, DKSZC, TSC, and CRC, where training, strategy, and weapons development took place.

Government’s Commitment to a Naxal-Free India

Amit Shah reaffirmed the government’s resolve to eradicate Naxalism, stating that India will be Naxal-free by March 31, 2026. He praised the bravery and precision of security forces, highlighting that the operation was completed without any casualties among personnel.

Strategic Impact & Future Outlook

The successful mission has significantly weakened Maoist influence in the region, with security forces seizing weapons, explosives, and dismantling Maoist technical units. Analysts believe this breakthrough will accelerate India’s counter-insurgency efforts, ensuring greater stability in affected areas.
