Ex-Tripura CM Biplab Deb Slams CPI(M) for Opposing Killing of 27 Maoists

Nothing 6 7

Former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has strongly criticized the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)], calling it “anti-social” for opposing the recent killing of 27 Maoists in Chhattisgarh. Deb’s remarks came after the CPI(M) Politburo issued a statement condemning the encounter, which included the death of Maoist general secretary Nambala Kesavarao.

Deb’s Criticism & Political Fallout

In a video statement, Deb accused CPI(M) of supporting anti-national elements, stating:

“We have always said CPI(M) is anti-national and anti-social. They conducted rallies in West Bengal in favor of Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. They have always spoken in support of Pakistan and China”.

Deb urged citizens to recognize CPI(M)’s stance, highlighting that Maoists have killed thousands of civilians, political leaders, and security forces over the years.

CPI(M)’s Response & Maoist Encounter Details

The CPI(M) Politburo defended its position, arguing that the government ignored appeals for peace talks with Maoists. The party called for an immediate halt to paramilitary operations, despite its ideological opposition to Maoist politics.

The encounter, which took place in Abhujmad forest along the Bijapur-Narayanpur border, resulted in the death of 27 Maoists, including Kesavarao. Two District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans also lost their lives during the operation.

Political & Security Implications

Deb’s remarks have intensified political tensions, with BJP leaders backing his stance. Security experts argue that continued Maoist activity poses a threat to national stability, while CPI(M) maintains that dialogue is the best solution.
