15 6

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs Delhi Capitals (DC) match, originally scheduled for May 8, 2025, at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala, was abandoned due to a security incident. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now rescheduled the match for May 24, with the new venue set as Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Why Was the Match Abandoned?

The game was halted after 10.1 overs, with PBKS at 122/1, following a stadium blackout caused by a security alert near Chandigarh. Reports indicate that Pakistan attempted to breach Indian airspace, leading to precautionary evacuations and the match being called off.

Revised IPL 2025 Schedule

The IPL 2025 season, which was paused on May 8, will now resume on May 17, with matches scheduled across six venues—Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai. The final is set for June 3.

Impact on Playoff Race

PBKS, currently third in the points table with 15 points, was aiming to secure a playoff spot with a win against DC. However, with eight more matches before the rescheduled fixture, the playoff scenario could shift significantly.

What’s Next for PBKS and DC?

PBKS will face Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 18, while DC will play Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 11. Both teams will need to adjust their strategies as they prepare for the rescheduled clash on May 24.

With the IPL 2025 season back on track, fans can expect high-intensity cricket as teams battle for playoff spots and ultimate glory.
